Boiler Pilot "on" but not "running"

We have an Elite HE Condensing Boiler that has suddenly packed up - "pilot"
indicator light is on but not the "running" light, no heating/hot water. Is
it something simple, or is it service-engineer-time?

Started decorating the bathroom and the plaster has come off with the
tiles, or rather the first thin layer has, do I need to re-plaster then

Having my first attempt at putting coving up (paper covered plaster stuff)
and been told that the coving adhesive goes off very quickly. Tiling
adhesive has been suggested as a better alternative. Does this sound
reasonable ...

I understand now that a condensing combi boiler has to be fitted to all new
installations due to them being more energy efficient.
Anyone got any advice as to which make / model to go for please ?
