Ford Fusion bonnet release

Has anyone had experience of releasing a Ford Fusion 2 bonnet (53 - 2003
model), given that the stupid plastic lever in the car is doing nothing
other than threatening to break off?

I have just tested the new solenoid::
With the ignition off 0 volts.....OK
With the ignition on 12.78 v.....OK
1st test.....Engine running...Ignition off....Engine still runs.
2nd test....Engine running...Ignition ...

Yes... that happened on the old solenoid. I have yet to test the new one in the same way.
I have not yet checked the lights, however when I turn the ignition switch off and the engine continues to run the battery waring light ...

When I switch off my LDV 400 (K reg), the engine still runs. I have just replaced the Solenoid cut off switch that is mounted ontop of the fuel pump thinking that it might be stuck open but this has had no effect.

I spent a total of 50 minutes today driving past 3 petrol stations
the one at the top of the road was closed because it had run out
you blame you lot out there for panic buying fuel

My berlingo ignition key 'chip reader' seems to be failing. It won't
recognise the key 9 times out of ten, but if I hold the spare key
reversed so the chip is right up against the barrel while I turn the
other key, it works ...
