smartish phone recommendations please

I'm looking for a new phone that:
1. has good quality audio and RF reception (fundamental I know but hardly
ever discussed in the reviews)
2. has reasonably sized keys for texting
3. can sync with my Outlook Contacts and Calendar databases
4. can also sync (or accept a download) of a few MS Excel spreadsheets ...

Three say they can't port a number within their own network?!

In 4 days, my Three contract ends. When I phoned to cancel last month,
they offered me everything except what I wanted, which was a 6 month
contract.
So, I went online, to the official Three store, and ordered a 6 month
contract and phone on a 300 mix plan ¡ê15/month. Suits me fine.

What do you think of O2 mobile?

Intelligent input needed.
I have found O2 to be fantastic generally, while virgin Mobile are
getting worse every day since NTL took them over. So I want to make
the move to O2.
What do you think of O2 mobile and could you give me any advice on
their pay as you go tariffs?

Sending emails via a Sony Ericsson/Virgin Mobile

I have a Sony Ericsson W380i on Virgin PAYG.
I've set my phone up to receive emails but I can't seem to send them.
I know the SMTP settings are correct as they are the same I use on my PC.
Do Virgin use it's own SMTP server?

Vodafone unlimited internet?

Having just read the small (and I mean very small) print in a current ad I
see that Vodafone "unlimited" internet and email is actually currently
limited to 500MB a month!
This makes a mockery of the term "unlimited" according to any, even a
generous, interpetration of 500MB.
Vodafone doesn't seem to care ...

They say they just don't have one and it's not on saynoto0870.
Is there any call-thru way of calling the 0845 from my inclusive
minutes. I think I'm being charged about 20ppm (Orange) to call
direct.
