OT: Problem accessing server

Could some of the experts help me out please, as I'm out of my depth.
Realise it's way OT but unsure where to best seek advice. It's a bit
obscure but please bear with me.
Using my Agent newsreader I'm suddenly getting messages "Unable to
find address of server news20.forteinc.com". That's the service I use
occ ...

I emailed them in relation to my question which I haven;t had a response to
in 8 days.
Ok basically as I understand it you give them ¡ê10 and get 1 gigs download
limit ... what I wanted to know is if I didn't use my 1 g ...

I've been with AOL for years, and am currently paying 14.99 for 2Mb. I
am a heavy user (100GB+ pm) and always used to be speed capped at peak
times but recently the cap has disappeared.
I see that AOL has recently introduced a 10GB cap, but they appear to
not be applying it to me.

They offer a wireless box, Can I use my Netgear DG834 instead?
I don't want Mcafee anywhere near system
Does the setup CD automatically install it?

OT Laptops on BBC Tv Consumer programme.

Each morning on BBC1 there is "Don't get done, get Dom", Dom uses a laptop
and in each programme he just closes the laptop lid down my OT question is
is this ok to do?
I always click my Close computer and click Shut down and wait.
