North Wales loco's 31st October
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 20:01:16 -0700 (PDT)
Bit of a bumper day up here in North Wales, with 66018 on the RHTT,
57304 doing the honours with the Pendolino and 57314 spending the
weekend at Holyhead. But the highlight has to be the return to action
proper of 37425, paired with 37401 on the 6D19/6F18 RTZ Arpley-
Holyhead.
If you fancy a look at some of the ...

Incident at Kircaldy Tonight
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 15:36:14 -0700 (PDT)
I travelled back tonight from Edinburgh to Dundee on the 18:32 ex
Edinburgh to Aberdeen East Coast service. We we held up for some time
outside Kircaldy station, and were told that an ambulance and police
were attending a train in the station. Further announcements revealed
that the train had been damaged and that ...

OT Tickets to Spain
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 14:07:07 -0000
I'm thinking of heading down to Southern Spain in February. It occurred to
me that I can go by train. Rather than just make a dash for it I thought
we might travel by day and make the journey part of the holiday something
like:
Day 1 Castle Cary/London (Eurostar)/Paris
Day 2 Paris (TGV) Montpellier
Day ...

Original railway bridge at Selby
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 05:06:54 -0700 (PDT)
I wonder if anyone has information on the original 1839 bascule bridge
over the River Ouse at Selby.
Manually operated,it had a span of 45 feet.
What I'm looking for is any early photograph or illustration of the
cast iron double leaf structure.
I faintly recall seeing something in a railway history book ...

Southampton Central to Fareham
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 04:31:01 -0700 (PDT)
On Sundays at particular times of the hour the quickest way to do this
is via Eastleigh (e.g. xx:55 -> (xx+1):43). However this isn't shown
on traintimes.org.uk. This would imply that for some illogical reason,
you're not allowed to go via Eastleigh. Is it possible to get a higher-
priced ticket to go via Eastleig ...

Fri, 30 Oct 2009 17:38:24 +0000
I'm booked to travel on the 11:20 Birmingham-Edinburgh VWC service

wondering why the journey time is longer than usual.
There is a 45 minute wait at Preston:
