Preserved Unrebuilt Bulleid Pacifics

There seem to be many tales about problems with unrebuilt Bulleid
pacifics during their SR.BR service, e.g. problems with chain driven
valve gear, lagging catching fire etc.
Have any of the preserved locos been modified during restoration, using
modern engineering techniques, to deal with some of these issue ...

Should fares be going up on May 18th 2008?

I know some timetables (NXEC in particular) are changing on May 18th,
but should UK rail fares be going up too? I've seen no announcements to
that effect at stations. I've just been surprised to see that my
Shalford/Peterborough NXEC+connections First Advance 2 ticket is going
up next week from ¡ê25 to ¡ê26.50. ...

Arup proposes Heathrow high speed rail
