[geek] Gnome / networking crapfest

Have spent literally hours rebooting this machine trying to work out
why the Gnome desktop would take minutes to get going, and fail to
sort out the audio whilst doing so. This used to be an intermittent
problem, and rebooting with fingers crossed used to work. Of course
I don't reboot that often, so it's not be ...

I don't watch a lot of TV series, but I just caught up on an American thang
which left me utterly gobsmacked. I just didn't see the outcome coming, and
am still having a hard time accepting it. A lot of American TV is shit, but
when they get it right...
