Wed, 20 Aug 2008 23:29:58 -0700 (PDT)
There are numerous articles on the web about the ion-exchange side of
things, so I'm fairly clear on that side of the operation. However,
someone in this group once recommended this product, which I'm now
considering buying...

Wiki: Fan noise reduction
Wed, 20 Aug 2008 21:15:17 -0700 (PDT)
Another one to check out before it goes live...
'''Fan noise''' can be a persistant minor irritant. The good news is
that [[:Category:Noise|noise reduction]] is fairly simple to install,
and can reduce noise levels massively.
===Buying quiet===
Extractor fans cover the noise level range from under 40dB to ...

Boiler location, in airing room near stairway?
Wed, 20 Aug 2008 23:20:38 +0100
Go-er or non-starter?
Just a quick opinion, as it affects planning and I don't want to drag the
gas fitter round just yet, until I have a sensible proposal (plus he's on
holiday).
The exact proposal is:
=========
I want to create a 0.8 x 2m enclosed cupboard, wood framed dry-wall
construction against 2 ot ...

B&Q 'Delux' garden tap kits
Wed, 20 Aug 2008 22:19:48 GMT
Had to fit an 'outside' tap for a client yesterday - except it wasn't
'outside'.
Industrial unit, want to use a hose outside, tap required just inside the
door.
Popped into B&Q on the way to the job to be faced with 'outside tap kits'
and 'deluxe outside tap kits'. ¡ê9:99 & ¡ê12:99 respectively.
The 'out ...

Thread about Threads
Wed, 20 Aug 2008 21:55:02 GMT
Just been changing all my rad valves for TRV's & new lock shields. System
has been in for 28 years + to my knowledge, rads in perfect condition, not a
spot of rust anywhere.
Original plan was to use the existing rad tails (for the lock shields) and
the existing nuts & olives on the supply/return pipework.

kingspan - got wet so scrap it !
Wed, 20 Aug 2008 13:42:14 -0700 (PDT)
Just noticed in the kingspan storage / site instructions:
Ideally, boards should be stored inside a building. However, if
outside storage cannot be avoided, the boards should be stacked clear
of the ground, and covered with a polythene sheet or weatherproof
tarpaulin. Boards that have been allowed to get wet sho ...

Wed, 20 Aug 2008 13:07:30 -0700 (PDT)
I have a bay window to repair with sash windows
and unusually no stone sub sill (see link below) instead their is a
wood sill,
which has rotted and been covered over with plywood.
I dont know if there was a sub sill originally.
My prefered method to repair would be to cast a new sill all round in
concrete, but m ...
