electrics - "strange" shock risk?
Fri, 08 Aug 2008 00:16:03 +0100
The other night I noticed a table lamp fitted with a "low-energy" lamp
(one with three loops of glass) was playing up. It seemed as if the
actual lamp fitting was the problem so, reaching inside the shade and
carfully holding the insulated base of the map itself I attempted to
press it upwards, to see if this fixe ...

Gas flue repair
Thu, 7 Aug 2008 21:27:09 +0100
After six visits the Vokera engineer (paid for by Vokera insurance), has
said that he cannot repair the boiler because there is damage to the end
of the gas flue.
The repair, still not done, has been going on for over three months and
they tell me that now. Plenty of visits where they say that they don't
have ...

Hi,
I'm looking to up-date my very old intruder alarms and quite like the look
of a wireless set up. Does anyone know how reliable they are in that are
they prone to interference from other wireless devices e.g. mobiles,
internet connections, cordless phones etc?
Thanks

gutters
Thu, 07 Aug 2008 16:56:19 GMT
Hi,
Just a quick question as I have never climbed high enough to find out
for myself: how secure well do gutter clips clip the gutter? I would
have thought they would hold it tight enough to keep the gutter in
place when its windy but OTOH shouldn't there be enough slack to allow
the gutter to expand/contract i ...

Shredder recommendation
Thu, 07 Aug 2008 13:37:03 +0100
Can someone recommend a shredder for "light home-office" use that will
last for more that 12 months!
The past 3 have all broken down mechanically (never been overloaded
with paper). I took the latest box of scrap apart to see what the
problem is - and what seems to happen is that the actual shredding
wheels are e ...
