Tue, 27 Oct 2009 13:51:45 -0000
I have gas warm air heating and I only had 100mm insulation in the loft so
decided to increase it.
I now have about 300mm in the loft.
And what a difference it has made. Before if downstairs was 21C upstairs was
the same. Now when downstairs is 21C upstairs is 24C, in fact when the
heating is on upstairs i ...

suitable sealant for kitchen hob
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 13:27:00 -0000
We are about to replace our gas hob in the kitchen with a new one.
The original grout put in around the edge has long since mostly crumbled
out. The silicon sealant we put in a couple of years ago has not been up to
the constant wiping around the edges of the hob.
Is there a particular sealant or grout that ...

22mm Tee, but no play in the pipe?
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 10:50:59 -0000
I need to take a T off a 22mm pipe (and off an old imperial pipe the same
size), but it doesn't look like there will be any play in the pipe to get
the new fitting in. Any ideas?

Circular saw handedness
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 10:23:06 +0000
Just bought a circular saw. Now I find myself wondering why it's the way
round it is: held by the back handle, the blade is on the right and the
motor on the left. This means that if you hold the back handle in your
right hand, the widest part of the sole plate -- the side you want to
rest on the widest part of ...

Do dimmer switches work with Low Energy Bulbs?
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 02:42:42 -0700 (PDT)
We wanted to be able to vary the brightness of the lights in the
dining room depending whether we were having visitors or trying to
work in there. I replaced the switch with a dimmer switch and it
meets our needs perfectly. But, even when I was fitting it I did
wonder if I was wasting my money given that we won' ...

Decorating a kitchen
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 09:38:56 +0000
What options are there for decorating the kitchen?
Most of the kitchen wallpapers I've seen are too gross for words (tea
pots!!) - but not-perfect walls need covering up and tiling is too
dear for huge walls.
Is it just a case of buy the least offensive kitchen stuff, or will
lining or blown vinyl wallpaper ...
