OT: Windows Live Mail as newsgroup client?
Sun, 29 Jun 2008 19:38:31 +0100
I've just installed Live Mail on my PC so that I can continue to access
Hotmail using a mail client (not that I use Hotmail very often, anyway!)
It's kindly imported all my accounts - including my news accounts from OE -
but I haven't tried using it for news.
Have any of you tried it - and does it overcome a ...

Wiring insulation may be damaged by a very serious over-voltage (it's
not clear how large a surge they're talking about). Ultimately arcing
could cause some plastics to carbo ...

Hi,
Do the UK building regs prevent front-facing dormer loft conversions
where the height of the existing roof is not exceeded ? (I'm not in a
conservation area btw).
Thanks,

Coatbridge.

Strange motor characteristics in new Ryobi electric brushcutter
29 Jun 2008 12:19:35 GMT
I have just bought a Ryobi RBC-1000EX electric brush cutter. It works
well and is easy to use, I have also got some attachments for it and
overall I'm quite impressed.
However there is one oddity about it which I can't quite fathom out.
The motor just has a straightforward on/off switch (with interlock)
there ...

Simplest, cleanest way to clean gloss
Sun, 29 Jun 2008 12:59:59 +0100
I have to redecorate my 10' 6" high living room.
What is the least messy way to clean gloss paintwork prior to repainting in
the same colour?
I reely reely don't want to have to lift the fitted carpet so sloshing
about with copious liquids is out.

I have 1 or 2 books on carpentry but none of them tell me
where I should use each joint type.
Diagram below shows X where I must use cross halvings.
I have been assuming that I Must use M&T at A,B and D

Plastic corner basins?
Sun, 29 Jun 2008 11:10:13 GMT
One occasionally sees pressed plastic washbasins - usually in rented
accomodation done up to no-compromise pound-shop standards. Tacky as they
are a small plastic corner basin would be ideal in my caravan WC. Of course
when I come to look for them I can't find them anywhere (and don't say
caravan shops: everything ...
