Sharp Sales Practice?
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 15:41:56 -0000
My mother telephoned today to say that the heating engineer had called to
identify her hot water problem with her combi and they had told her that her
Heat Exchanger had furred. I haven't the make or model number for the combi
but I don't think it really matters as most combi work on a similar
principle (?) th ...

Ring circuits
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 08:29:06 -0700 (PDT)
Just about to do the final connections at the CU end for my kitchen/
diner refit.
Conundrum: I originally wired this as two rings, one for the left
hand side, one for the right hand side, as there was a pretty heavy
appliance load one side in particular which even with diversity took
up too much of the 32A to ...

Flooring - Oiled or Laquered?
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 13:51:37 -0000
Hi all
On the point of needing to buy wood (preferably engineered) flooring.
Er-indoors was taken with some B & Q stuff with contoured surface. My
concern with this is that if you need to sand it, it would be necessary to
sand all the contours out to get rid of grime, scuffs etc.
So I am trying to stear her ...

Combi water getting cold
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 13:24:45 +0000 (UTC)
We've just moved into a new flat. It's a new-build, fitted with a Geminox
THI-5-25-M75 boiler. I understand that this model is a combi with a 75 litre
tank fitted as well - I'm not up on boilers but I assume that it tries to
offer the "best of both worlds"? It's also got the Geminox QAA73/REG73
control panel an ...

Killing and preventing moss?
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 10:28:04 +0000
I'm still trying to solve the problem of weeds and moss growing in the
sand-gaps on our brick-paved drive. After advice here I decided
against spraying with a sealant, because of its appearance and its
temporary effect. I spent a day scraping out most of it and then,
after drying, sweeping in new sand.
Is there ...

Coughtrie Lighting in administration - end of an era?
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 03:16:02 -0700 (PDT)
Does anyone else install the Coughtrie lights? I've bought the
Coughtrie corner lights for a long time and it will be very sad if
they can't find a buyer! I don't think there are any equivalent
quality outside lights on the market and there must be a huge market
for the fittings. They've never been well distribute ...

Rad piping
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 09:57:08 +0000
The official way of measuring the heat output of a rad is with piping:
Top to Bottom same end (TBSE).
But is this the best way? I know that BBOE has a derating factor, so I
assume that is not so good (although I can't see why, unless it's
cold top corners).
I'm about to fit a new rad, it can be piped up any ...

Digital TV: Split signal from aerial?
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 10:04:05 +0000
Hi.
Is there a degradation in signal if I split it 3 ways from the aerial?
I'm just about to install a new aerial myself and want to do the job
properly. I've not installed an aerial before, but I'm fairly good at
electrics etc.
Thanks, in advance.
