Cheapest Ale. 66% price increase.

Some Holts establishments run a loyalty card scheme, my Thursday night
local, Astley and Tyldesley Miners Welfare Institute is one of these.
Imagine my horror when last night I found the "Loyalty Card" now takes 10
"stamps" for a free pint instead of the previous cards 6 "stamps".

"The XXXXX has closed" - Warning
Thu, 19 Feb 2009 10:24:23 +0000
This week I was told that an excellent pub had closed. This turned out to be
rubbish. Please don't pass on unchecked stories as they can soon get a life of
their own and become a self-fulflling prophesy.

Real Ale's connection to occultism
Thu, 19 Feb 2009 01:34:38 -0800 (PST)
Here is a good trivia question:
Which famous real ale is advertised during Kenneth Anger's occult film
"Lucifer Rising", music for which was initially written by Jimmy Page,
then by Bobby Beausoleil (a member of Manson's "Family")?
Not a trick question - not a pun or a joke. There is a real advert for

Celebrity brewer Neil 'Bob the Builder' Morrissey's comments to Mike
Brenner (CAMRA's chief executive)
Sun, 8 Feb 2009 11:41:59 -0800 (PST)
"Why, when I am going to meet a man so high up in CAMRA, do I expect
him to come Morris dancing into the room with hardly any teeth and a
big beard, playing the hurdy-gurdy?"
It is actually pretty funny.
What is a hurdy-gurdy? ...

Meg Dods
Sun, 8 Feb 2009 18:11:09 -0000
Anyone know who brews it? 4% pale golden beer, pleasant enough if you like
such beers (I think they're OK in summer but not really in February). No
info on pump clip, barman wasn't sure but thought it came from a Yorkshire
micro.
Thanks

What I would say to editors of beer magazines
Fri, 6 Feb 2009 10:59:31 -0800 (PST)
When pubs submit adverts to your magazine, do you think you could give
a gentle nudge to those that do not include a complete postcode?
Although I am a pedestrian I have used GPS in the past to find out-of-
the-way pubs, and a postcode really helps! ...
