Wigan Beerfest 2009 today

Hi everyone,
Been to the Wigan 2009 BeerFest this afternoon. A great big thank
you to the organisers and all the volunteers.
I concentrated on the "Dark" beers which were excellent.. BTW a special
prize to anyone attempting the 10% job (a very small sample was enough for
me)!

there are CAMRA beer festivals next weekend in Wigan, Oldham and
Leeds.

Stupid question - why's bottled beer crap (usually)?

Ok, dumb question time. Why's bottled beer, generally, crap?
I guess I don't mean crap but "not like the real thing"
Does it contain preservatives that affect the taste? Or is it carbonation?
(although I've had bottled beers that are not fizzy they don't seem to work
either).
The bottled beers which I prefer ...
