my native language is Dutch and I'm learning English.
Can somebody help me to give a description of:
1) vintage clothes (mayby old-fashioned or old clothes)
2) Second-hand glass eyes. (Are it really eyes made of glass ?)

What is the guttoral stop ?
I have assumed it to be the 'g' sound some
folk use to pronounce words like 'nothing'
(nothing-k)
Is this a regionalism or simply poor English ? ...

Does anyone here pronounce "the" with a schwa before a vowel sound -
"thuh" instead of "thee"? (Obviously, "u" pronounced as "yoo" is a
general exception.)
It may be a dialect thing for some, and if so fair enough, but the
rather plummily RP TV personality Ben Fogle has started to irritate
me. He's just rowe ...

'I speak good English' or 'I speak English well'?

A Sunday pub lunch disagreement needs resolving. A friend stated that 'I
speak good English' is actally not good English at all and that 'I speak
English well' is the correct way of saying it. Is she correct and, if so, why?
