Just spent a week 'boat-sitting' on the Worcestershire and Staffordshire
(?) Canal while the rest of the family were off on holiday. Coming
back after a tourist afternoon spent up the Severn Valley Railway I was
shocked to discover that vandals had called at our mooring by the "Bird

Having just returned from a 7 week jaunt around the South Warwickshire
ring and back to Cambridge I've come to the conclusion that
single-handing a 70 footer has become harder over the last few
years...mainly due to the effects of anno domini on back and knees.

MacDonalds are doing their bit!

Went for a pee in the gents at MacDonalds in Macclesfield. It said
that their urinals covert one hundred thousand of gallons into
drinking water each year! I suppose this was supposed to be a 'We are
doing our bit for the environment message' Think their promotional
department are getting to wrong somewhere as ...

Have booked the cottage #4 (the end one) for next week... this time towpath
walking and drinking in the boat inn :)
Intend to walk north from weedon bec hopefully through to Braunston... then
south down to Mildenhall doing the bits of the GU I missed last time. If
anyone sees me I will have either a bright yell ...

The good people at Stafford Boat Club are putting on breakfast on
Sunday morning from 9.30 to 10.30am.
The cost will be ¡ê3 per person - the menu will be - bacon, 2 sausages,
egg, beans, hash brown, tomato, piece of bread plus coffee or tea. For
veggies - substitute mushrooms for the bacon and use veggie sausage. ...
