Re BW's stated intention to raise an extra ¡ê5 million from boaters over
the next 3 years:
Instead of joining in the divide and rule game that BW has successfully

Red diesel - again!

I refuelled at Middlewich a few days ago and asked the manager there
how he was going to implement the forthcoming changes to red diesel
duty, bearing in mind that at Rose Narrowbaots, Stretton, I was told
that they were going to charge full price for all fuel regrdless of
usage to keep admin costs to a minimum.

Whilst walking the towpath of the Basingstoke - especially in the
Woking area - the current dereliction of the canal was really
depressing. There's matted weed almost from bank to bank, with huge
swathes of bull rushes stretching into presumably what is (or was) the
