I bought a Midland 78 Plus CB from Maplin a couple of months ago,
along with a moonraker "pre tuned" antenna.
I set up in my car, powered through my cigarette lighter socket and
found that it would regularly blow the 2 amp in line fuse on the power

According to

it's apparently now legal to use CB frequencies for packet radio. The
page says "packet use has additional rules" without elaborating and I've
been unable to find any more information on the web. Does anyone have
