How far would you expect to be able to get between two 27MHz CB handhelds?
One mile, more?
The only time I tried anything like this was years ago from one 300mw
handheld to a base station running on a big antenna and we got well over a
mile.
But between two handhelds I have no idea what to expect.

I'd like to take a CB radio on a hiking camping trip - not a
hand-held, but probably a regular automobile type, as I gather
handhelds have much shorter range. As for the battery, I'm thinking of
using one of the compact, rechargablem sealed 12V batteries typically
used in domastic burglar alarms (3" x 4" x 3" ap ...
