pollution that could have an adverse effect on wildlife.
The scientists showed that as well as direct light sources, polarised

Parakeets in Buckingham?
Sat, 03 Jan 2009 23:15:21 +0000 (GMT)
This afternoon there was a lot of squawking in a tree just down the road. I
could not see the source (of course) but it sounded very like the noise made
by the parakeets down Richmond, Surrey, way.
Have they been seen/heard this far North?

Unfortunately, we don't have hedgehogs i ...

Tue, 7 Oct 2008 09:47:57 -0700 (PDT)
I can't quite make my mind up if this is a good thing or not...
Good in that it'll stop all the chemical pesticide use, bad thing
because of the possibility that it may be more efficient therefore
reducing insects and therefore Mammals and Birds etc not having enough
to feed on...?!

Do bees bite?
Mon, 22 Sep 2008 10:06:08 +0100
The other day while assisting a small bumble bee to escape through our
living room window, I let it onto my hand while urging it gently with a
piece of paper. As its head was over my thumb I got a small shock as though

I thought bumble bees only stung un ...

Scarcity of birds
Mon, 22 Sep 2008 09:59:30 +0100
For a long time now we have been missing the local family of sparrows.
Suddenly last Friday they reappeared and tried playing six-at-a-time in the
bird bath.
That the local farmer seems to have finished harvesting, ploughing and
harrowing during the previous week may be relevant!
