As a new subscriber to this group, I feel it's my duty to steer the
conversation away from the perceived benefits of veggieism versus
omnivorism. To that end, here's some information about a red squirrel
walk which is happening in Carmarthenshire at the end of the month

bee problems

I don't know if anyone can help, but my friend lives in a very old
house 1700s I think and he has discovered a colony of what presumably
may be masonry bees living in the mortar between the bricks on the one
side of the house. I haven''t actually seen the bees myself, only the
burrows but the mortar is quite lit ...

Can anyone please name a Bibio species with a clear red/orange band
around the body - almost certainly the natural fly that has given rise
to the angler's Bibio pattern:

our guidebooks.
The picture wwas taken in Whittle Dene in the Tyne valley, in April.

Aggressive butterfly!

While taking a well earned bask in the sun and our conservatory this
afternoon, a passing large bumblebee attracted my attention (they often
get in and cannot find the way out). Suddenly its seemingly aimless
