Red squirrels     18 Sep 2006 03:43:02 -0700
As a new subscriber to this group, I feel it's my duty to steer the conversation away from the perceived benefits of veggieism versus omnivorism. To that end, here's some information about a red squirrel walk which is happening in Carmarthenshire at the end of the month (message is bilingual): Dewch i goed ...

bee problems     7 May 2006 13:52:12 -0700
I don't know if anyone can help, but my friend lives in a very old house 1700s I think and he has discovered a colony of what presumably may be masonry bees living in the mortar between the bricks on the one side of the house. I haven''t actually seen the bees myself, only the burrows but the mortar is quite lit ...

Aggressive butterfly!     Fri, 14 Apr 2006 22:51:41 +0100
While taking a well earned bask in the sun and our conservatory this afternoon, a passing large bumblebee attracted my attention (they often get in and cannot find the way out). Suddenly its seemingly aimless wandering turned into straight line flight with a peacock butterfly in hot pursuit. The butterfly ret ...

Foreign Natural History     13 Apr 2006 13:24:55 -0700
Can anyone point me in the direction of a serious site for people who want to know about the natural history of places they visit on holiday. You know that I mean more than bird lists or a few big and obvious species. Noel ...
