Paint
Mon, 17 Aug 2009 08:47:15 +0000 (UTC)
I bought some acrylic paints and brushes this weekend, and I discovered
that I can paint! I was just going to paint a water tower, but then I
thought I'd paint some Hornby four-wheeled coaches as well. Take a look
at the tower and the coach here: http://jgoode.co.uk/gallery.php?/Model

Dapol Axles
Sun, 16 Aug 2009 14:26:47 -0700 (PDT)
Are all Dapol wagon axles shorter than say Hornby ?
I got hold of a OO Dapol track cleaner to try and had to remove the
axle to fit the decoder. Went to pop it back in place and it
cracked :-(
Tried a spare Hornby axle and it fell through.
Some of his old Triang wagons have plastic axles but they appear to ...

Any Minitrix motors out there?
Fri, 14 Aug 2009 17:32:24 +0100
Does anyone have any suggestions as to a possible source of a replacement
motor (or armature) for an N-gauge Minitrix type 27 loco? Doesn't seem to be
anything on ebay.

Falcon Brass kit
Wed, 12 Aug 2009 17:58:23 GMT
I have an old Falcon Brass kit of the Jones 2-4-0T/4-4-0T of the HR and
have just started putting it together in the 4-4-0T version.
The instructions leave MUCH to be desired, so does anyone have any
suggestions as to how to proceed? Especially on the bogie, which in the
OO configuration has not a snowball's ...

Back to back to basics
Wed, 12 Aug 2009 18:46:08 +0100
Having had a bit of trouble with shorting and poor running over
pointwork I have gone back to re-checking and re-spacing the wheels on
my various models. I'd already done some and I know you should be
able to run Hornby RTR on their 14.5mm B2B but I have consistently
found that if I re-space them using the spacin ...

Point rods
Mon, 10 Aug 2009 20:03:59 +0100
What do people use for point rods in OO? Obviously they aren't
functional for most of us, but they have to be there. Piano wire?
Copper rolled flat?

Is "sundeala" hardboard?
Mon, 10 Aug 2009 13:49:35 +0100
I am about to build a "table top" layout for an O27 system. Final size
around 6ft x 5ft (very simple layout!). I've come across "Sundeala" as a
baseboard (and various comments about how to use it) but haven't figured out
what it is.
Reading the "how to prepare" instructions about wetting it, makes it sound ...

DCC and Y junctions
Mon, 10 Aug 2009 07:37:48 +0100
To make a Y reverser work in DCC you can use a clever bit of kit (name
escapes me) that reverses the polarity of the track at the crucial moment.
Is that right?
Suppose you build two loops in the shape of an 8 but with the centre of the
8 not being a crossing but a single piece of track with points at each en ...
