Work for large bed profile cutter
Tue, 8 Sep 2009 12:02:44 -0700 (PDT)
A friend of mine has a one-man business cutting special shapes out of
large sheets of mild steel. I have become involved with this huge
machine - which can take sheets of mild up to the largest, I would
imagine and up to several inches thick. Because I understand the old
relay transistor technology I have been abl ...

Denford Triac Motor Replacement
Mon, 7 Sep 2009 19:45:13 -0700 (PDT)
I'm looking at replacing the stepper motors on my Triac with some more
modern ones, as I never got rid of the problem of loosing steps. This
will rule out any problems with the old motors not working well with
the new drives I fitted, and will improve performance anyway as the
new motors should be more efficient ...

Linear Bearings and slideways
Sun, 06 Sep 2009 21:56:07 +0100
I have just bought an NSK Linear Bearing and Slide for a test rig
build.
I am surprised that the mount holes for the bearing are 6mm diameter
(that is 6mm not clearance for 6mm bolts). This means that the units
must be mounted with 5mm capscrews. Just seems wrong to me!
Has anyone else used such kit and seen the ...

Power hacksaw Update
Sun, 06 Sep 2009 22:25:28 +0930
You may remember my post regarding a Utube video of my restrored
Parkinson Power hacksaw.
It was suggested that it was running in the wrong direction.
It was recommended that I time it cutting in both directions , and the
direction that cuts the fastest is the correct one.
I timed it in the "backward" direction ...

3/8" BSW x 4" bolt
Sat, 05 Sep 2009 01:56:23 +0000
Hi folks,
I need a single 3/8" BSW x 4" bolt with a hexagonal head (it's for one
corner of a magneto mounting which is hard to access). I can get a box
of 10 from Thomas Smith fasteners, but I'd prefer not to buy that many.
Anyone got an odd one they'd be willing to sell? Or maybe even a longer
3/8" BSW bol ...

Two inverter drive questions
Fri, 4 Sep 2009 11:44:10 -0700 (PDT)
I'm rigging up an Altivar 58 10hp drive for the motor of my big lathe,
the 'right' answers to these questions could make the job simpler:-
Is there any problem with leaving the drive control wired permanently
ON? ie the motor will start when power input is applied, and only stop
when the power is turned off. I k ...
