Workshop Construction
Tue, 7 Oct 2008 12:54:43 +0100
Some time ago I recall a thread descibing a workshop construction but
despite keeping 95% of posts I can't find a sensible text to search on
which brings up the details.
Am I having a 'senior moment' or can any one else remember who it was
doing the new build?
The reason for the enquiry is that I seem to reme ...

Dr Death's exhibition near the White Hart
Tue, 07 Oct 2008 00:03:10 +0100
I'm going on the Saturday. Will be in the downstairs caff at about 12:30 if
it's raining or outside looking at the traction engines if it's gloriously
sunny.
I'll wander up the White Hart at Ufton a bit after opening time on Friday and
Saturday.
Anyone else paying (or being paid for) a visit?

Shipping economically to Hamburg?
Mon, 06 Oct 2008 20:59:44 +0100

side of the pond, it would be outrageously expensive to ship direct
but he reckons he could add it to a load from Hamburg, Germany if I
could get it there for a decent fee.
Any bright ideas? It's bl**dy heavy, I'll hazard a guess at over 20
kg. ...

Anyone recognise this Dickson holder?
Mon, 06 Oct 2008 20:41:16 +0100
This came as part of a job lot I bought.
http://home.btconnect.com/duttondock/images/Mech/Dickson-1.jpg
The *only* provision for attaching anything to it is the slot and
tapped hole on the front.
Somewhere under the rust & grime is a 'Colchester' marking, so it
appears to be 'genuine'.
I can only guess ...

Pros and Cons of coarse vs fine threads ?
Sun, 5 Oct 2008 12:09:51 -0700 (PDT)
Hi,
I'm just about to start to build a Hemmingway rear toolpost and I will
use a 12mm dimension for the clamp post instead of the 1/2 inch in the
drawings ('cos I am Mr Metric). My question is a general one about
threads in this type of application :
As it happens, I have taps and dies for M12 x 1.0 (fine) a ...
