Not Torx drivers
Fri, 24 Jul 2009 17:34:01 +0100
Anyone know what the Torx like things with 12 points are called? I've
recently come across them on some car door locks and a few other auto
related uses.
Next question, where to get some drivers at a working man's price?
Thanks

Hi, I just bought a ML7 and the spindle had a giant play. when I removed

DC motor as tidal turbine model generator
Thu, 23 Jul 2009 10:06:13 -0700 (PDT)
Hello Folks!
I am currently working on a tidal turbine model, and need to have
enough electricity generated to power a few LED's.
I presume to get about 10rpm in the hydraulics lab, and need a few
watts to power the LED's. I was wondering, as small DC motors are
specified as motors and not generators, how I cou ...

Gear Cutter Question
Tue, 21 Jul 2009 04:07:56 -0700 (PDT)
Brown and Sharp type gear cutters each cover a limited range of teeth
numbers. E.g. a number 6 cutter covers 17-20 teeth gears, and a
number 5 cutter covers 21-25 teeth. As I understand it, the cutters
are exact for the lowest number of teeth, becoming less and less
accurate for higher numbers in the range.

Sturmey-Archer & Makrolon
Wed, 15 Jul 2009 09:03:30 +0100
Bob:
There is a complete gear set available, it was a bit rusty due to lack of oil,
but I have cleaned it up a bit in some thinners, and all the gears look fine. A
bit of oil and they all spin OK and no bad play in anything. There is the sun
wheel, 4 planet wheels and the outer ring gear, plus the housing for th ...

Sturmey Archer gear info

Bit of a shot in the dark but.......
I'm looking for some small pinions for a one off project and it occurs
to me that the planet gears from a S-A hub gearbox might just be around
the right size.
I has got to be 40 years since I took one of these apart so my memory is
a little faded but I think there are 4 p ...
