The C6B is a crap lathe.
It does have a tumbler reverse IF you are prepared to remove the drive
pulley to swap gear over at the back.
The variable electronic drive is a waste of time, useable low speed is
around 250 rpm, below that it stalls if you piss on it.
I had one that I fitted a two speed poly vee drive ...

I have an ML7 with a Compton Parkinson single phase motor with J59
stamped on it, 1440 rpm 1/3 hp. The terminals are A, Z, AZ and T.
When connecting Live to AZ and Neutral to A the motor will spin in
either direction i push it. Can anyone tell me the connection for the

dampening grease
Tue, 26 Aug 2008 10:13:46 +0200
Hi,
US company Nye sells dampening gells, for thick prices. The same kind of
stuff you find in old binoculars (to get the expensive feeling on cheaper
models). This is a very sticky, brownish grease. Is there any affordable
alternative or substitute?
Best regards,
Dirk

Half-Nut difficulties
Mon, 25 Aug 2008 14:19:13 -0500
Is it normal for half-nuts on older lathes to "hang up" or not smoothly
engage the leadscrew with each and every close of the half-nut lever?
Not being the original purchaser of this lathe, I do not know how it
behaved when new from the works (around 1970). The lead screw is 1-1/2"
x 8 tpi.
The half-nut hangs ...

Petrol in preservative "grease"?
Sun, 24 Aug 2008 20:36:40 +0100
I've just finsihed unpacking and cleaning my new QCTP, Chinese made BX
style; I was surprised to find that the preservative "grease" that the parts
are coated in smells strongly of petrol and is oil rather than grease, about
the viscosity of 68 weight way oil. Why on earth would they add petrol to
the oil or i ...
