Re: To pee or not to pee?     Mon, 16 Nov 2009 06:48:04 -0500
What ever is in the ground will be absorbed by the plant so I don't feel urine is safe. I think the reason woman's pee is not used is because woman take a lot of prescriptions that have Hormones in them. When woman become of an advanced age they go through (midlife) changes that are only corrected by lots of hormo ...

clematis     Mon, 16 Nov 2009 02:49:30 -0800 (PST)
I have what is only described on the label as a "summer flowering clematis", burgundy colour . First year it flowered, and I cut it back in the autumn. Next year, masses of foliage, but no blooms, so I didn't cut it back. This year, again, masses of foliage and now, halfway through November, a few blooms at the ve ...

Organic Remedy for Destroying Ant Nests     Mon, 16 Nov 2009 03:30:16 +0000
Hi All, I can?t find a section on this site for pests and diseases so I will just post this in the hope that someone might find it of use. This was a tip I got from an organic market gardener on another allotment site about 6 years ago. This requires to be done when the weather is dry for reasons which will ...

Help: Are these persimmons?     Sun, 15 Nov 2009 14:51:40 -0800 (PST)
I bought a persimmon tree years ago as an ornamental, (I'm in BC, Canada, near the 49th parallel, so its fruit would not ripen here). The tree produces a heavy crop each year, but my "persimmons" don't look much like the ones I occasionally see in stores. Here is a link to a high-res photo: http://www.oldstox. ...

Eucomis ID     Sun, 15 Nov 2009 19:07:05 +0000
Ray was given this some time ago and we've never had a certain ID on it. Does anyone happen to know which it is? I hope the pic is clear enough because it's too late to take another now! It's probably about 2' tall in a pot and it's one of the 'beefy' ones. http://i37.tinypic.com/11se5pz.jpg -- Sacha www. ...

ID Please?     Sun, 15 Nov 2009 14:59:11 -0000
Does anyone recognise this? I don't remember planting it, but it appeared about a week ago. Possibly a member of the Brassica family? http://www.flickr.com/photos/44641846@N05/4106054198/ ...

How to grow garlic...?     Sat, 14 Nov 2009 11:31:43 -0800 (PST)
Hi, I'm a gardening newbie - so much so that I live in a flat and hence don't have a garden. I bought garlic cloves 2 weeks ago and now they have green shoots. They've been sitting on the kitchen bunker out of direct sunlight. As an experiment I'd like to grow them. Can I have advice please? Thanks in advance. ...
