Yucca now finished flowering?     Wed, 21 Oct 2009 09:58:58 -0700 (PDT)
This is a pic taken of my Yucca before it finished flowering, the frosts have since put paid to the bedding plants. Will the Yucca flower again next year? When in England it only flowered once every second year? Sorry it's on its side, don;t know how to straighten it! http://i36.tinypic.com/3088bvs.jpg ...

Lovely tree!     Wed, 21 Oct 2009 17:13:53 +0100
Went to Savill gardens today, well worth going at this time of the year. Oaks were fascinating, especially at how diverse they appear both in colour and form from one to another. The best tree of the day which undoubtedly stood out in the garden and on our trip was the Acer conspicum? "Phoenix" a beautiful pi ...

Hazlenut suckers     Wed, 21 Oct 2009 08:55:00 +0200
Hello all I planted a few hazles and cobs (2 of each) a few years ago. They all produce nuts but squirrels always get to them before we do. So I am in the process of moving one of each to another location where this is less likely to happen (leaving the others to the squirrels). All these trees send up ...

Autumn Colours in my garden     Tue, 20 Oct 2009 22:04:10 +0100
http://ariesval.jalbum.net/autumn/ The colours are deeper and more intense than they would be during the day as I took them this evening just as the sun was going down. -- May no portent of evil be attached to the words I say. Anon http://ariesval.co.uk/val/ ...

Seed from Shallots     Tue, 20 Oct 2009 05:08:23 -0700 (PDT)

evergreen for privacy..     Tue, 20 Oct 2009 11:19:35 +0100
Our neighbour has had a complete overhaul of his garden, cutting trees back and generally opening up a part of the garden where, previously, tress, bushes and shrubs masked out his (largish) house and garage. We have decided to take our own actions to eventually replace the exposed area in his garden with t ...

badgers..     Tue, 20 Oct 2009 11:07:06 +0100
X-No-Archive: yes Forgive the almost (?) off topic post for a gardening group but I am having some serious problems with badgers digging my lawn up... We have a set in one part of the garden and it has been occupied for a good few years but have never, ever had this problem before. We have watched the badgers ...

Quick legal way to buy small area of farmers field?     Tue, 20 Oct 2009 06:05:29 +0100
We wish to extend our garden to incorprate a small 500sqm,(approx 1/10th acre) area of our farmers neighbours field (no intention of planting or altering anything) to give our dogs more room to play. Is there a way to do this legally without the need for paying solicitors fees which would percentage wise, add a gr ...
