Is anyone else growing this outdoors? Autumn is definitely upon us but somewhat to my surprise, ours is still flowering, if a bit sparsely. I think I'm inclined to plant much bigger clumps of it next year! It's in two different parts of the garden and if it can get through last year, well........! Same go ...

lavender (pruning)     26 Oct 2009 18:56:16 GMT
I have a couple of lavender in big pots outside my front door, but they haven't been watered as well as they probably should. They've been there for 2 years and they didn't flower very well this year. (they don't get an amazing amount of light, and I'm terrible for remembering to water, and being by the front ...

poinsettia     Mon, 26 Oct 2009 15:36:03 +0000
Habitu¨¦(e)s of this venerable group may recall that I acquired a sprig of poinsettia last Christmas which just kept on growing. I put it out in a pot in the spring and it's just kept on growing in the garden. It's now about a foot or so high and seems perfectly happy. Should I bring it in again over winter? ...

How do I get Nerine to flower     Mon, 26 Oct 2009 15:11:28 +0000
I planted some Nerine bowdeni around my young Judas Tree about 8 years ago, about a foot from the trunk. I got the occasional flower in the first couple of years, but for about 5 years none. The bulbs have multiplied, so there are some clumps of them, probably about 20 individual bulbs now. There were plenty o ...

Turnips?     Sun, 25 Oct 2009 19:08:33 +0100
We've had a nice crop of tasty little navet turnips this year. Spouse asked me if I can plant any seed now ready for next Spring? As I remember they don't take long to come up in the seed tray. Is it worth while trying to get a few started over Autumn? -- David in Normandy. DavidinNormandy@yahoo.fr To ...
