Dogs and Horses
Thu, 22 Jan 2009 10:06:25 -0800 (PST)
Hi
Now I'm not a dog person really, but we got a Border Collie pup in
November as gary wants to get some sheep and he's trained sheepdogs
all his life in the UK, anyway, I did not realise how good it is for
horses to have dogs around. At first our two horses were panic
stricken at this bouncing hyperactive bal ...

Little Secret

I have a new addition to the family, she came home on 20th December.
Its a little girl, she was 8 weeks old when I got her and is a Staffie
Blue, I have called her Georgie. I have loved having her its been a
pleasure but hard work, dog and cat sort of getting on, room for
improvement.

My big useless (cover his ears!) home bred orphan 8yo 17hh Chindato is
either getting even more devious, or he's got an impacted colic.
Here's the score: Chindo loves to sleep against me - he rests his gums
on my finger, or touches his nose to my back and just nods off.
Usually, I'll be in the barn shovelling th ...

what do you do with your horse poo?
Thu, 15 Jan 2009 09:00:01 -0800 (PST)
I've been tossing around an idea for a while of starting a co-
operative of horse dung producers, composting and bagging the stuff
for sale in garden centres.
What do you think?
- is there a market for horse poo?
- would horse owners take a little more trouble over their piles if it
meant they had a market for ...

sabotaged!
Thu, 15 Jan 2009 08:56:56 -0800 (PST)
With the bad weather, the horses have been hanging around the yard
more, and there has been a corresponding increase in the number of
wheelbarrow-loads needed to be removed every evening. (btw,
wheelbarrow wheel still going strong - thx!)
So, last night, after my third load, I figured I'd earned a rest, and
hea ...

Missing rider

I subscribe to bridleways,co,uk and there is a forum thread running
there regarding one of the regulars who posts as Calandra going
missing. This lady has not been heard of since 10th December and does
a lot of solo riding. She was doing a round Britain ride but put the
project on hold for the winter, leaving her ...

The 16-year-old bay gelding, with whom King won a team bronze medal in
Hong Kong less than four months ago and a 2007 European Championship
individual silver, suffered a broken leg after falling during the
Millennium Stadium cross-country phase.
The horse received immediate expert help, headed by event vet John
