W.J.Craven "Hydraulux" pump.
Tue, 29 Sep 2009 23:48:54 +0100
Picked this pump up from Thirsk on my way to Scorton Rally on Sunday.
Interesting beast and hopefully plenty of information on the nameplate for
one of You "Retro-Aviation" bods to give it some history. The guy I picked
it up from seemed to recall that it was originally fitted with a Villiers WX
series engine. ...

Sleeve valve questions
Mon, 28 Sep 2009 08:58:19 -0700 (PDT)
Does anyone recall a quote from the German engineer Max Bentele, of
Wankel fame, regarding British sleeve valve aero engines, "as
requiring 100 gears too many" ? I think it's in his autobiog "Engine
Revolutions" (somewhere on my shelves!).
On the subject, any thoughts on this:

ABC progress
Mon, 28 Sep 2009 10:09:10 +0100
Many here will know that I'm rebuilding a very decrepit WW1 ABC XD2 Lyons &
Wrench gen set. It had been left to stand in the open for many years and I
am just continuing the work started by (I believe) Peter James who described
it in SEM in 1976.
The 1 KVA 50 Volt dynamo is away with Rob Armstrong for assembl ...

Just back from a very nice day at the NYVMS working day at Tancred Grange,
Scorton. Nice venue, excellent organisation and some very good exhibits.
Engine numbers slightly down on entry/appearance ratio but still a good
range. Other exhibit classes were very good too.A lot bigger and better than
when it was at ...

O/T Parental controls
Sun, 27 Sep 2009 02:41:59 -0700 (PDT)
I've just replaced our dead PC with a nice new one running Vista which
I rather like so far.
There's one problem, when I apply parental cotrols to our boys
accounts, it stops Internet Explorer working for everyone. Taking the
PCs off doesn't help. I have to reboot to factory settings to get
things working again. ...
