Ok it's a month or so ago, but I was camping near Oban at the end of
July/beginning of August and also on the campsite (Barcaldine Caravan and
Camping Club) was a van with Stationary Engines emblazoned on the side. I

BSA Charging Sets

We have, by a roundabout way, got hold of the details of a guy in Lancashire who
apparently still has 10 ex-army BSA sets in good inhibited condition, with
exhaust, manual, toolkit, starting rope, charging lead etc.
He is asking ¡ê100 each for them.
We are not involved in any way, we were looking for spares.

I think it's a P2 is it or a universal petrol engine as it says on the name
plate. I've cleaned all the muck out of the carb and the fuel tank but

Somerset event cancelled

There was to have been a vintage event at Shipham near Cheddar this coming
weekend. Sad to report that yet another event has been sogged off due to the
state of the ground, the decision being made last Wednesday.

Like a lot of staem fairs, they have a camping field for paying
public.

BSA Charging sets

We collected a couple of BSA 30V 10A charging sets on the weekend, both need a
bit of work but are almost complete.
Will report back once we have some noise out of them.

Big piston rings

I heard a very useful tip the other evening. Someone restoring a big engine
was stuck for piston rings & skimmed up a brake disk, parting out at the
appropriate diameter. Similarly, a brake drum might also be helpful.
What a good idea! Fine grain cast iron & annealed over a number of years by
repeated cycles ...
