Peter's nylon and news server
Thu, 24 Apr 2008 09:56:44 +0100
A bit of a test, I've had nothing through for 2 days on the onetel
server, just checked on Garble groups & seen Peter's request.
I've forgotten my signon details so I'll reply here & see whether it
turns up on Garble.
I've got some 12mm nylon (well, fairly sure it's Nylon - any simple
tests?) which is probably b ...

3HP Blackstone
Fri, 25 Apr 2008 11:56:37 +0100
My Aussie friend, Kerry Morris from Lithgow NSW has asked me to see if anybody
in the UK knows the dimensions of the under belly water tank on a 3hp Blackstone.
No 65927 - 1908
See http://www.oldengine.org/members/kmorris/Photos/blackstone2.JPG
If the dimensions are not known even a photo would help.
TIA

Re: Scrap prices

Nick,
I made that comment about my hoard of castors, pound for pound I will get

Anyone into BIGGGGG electric motors?
Wed, 23 Apr 2008 17:15:01 +0100
Hi All
Anyone here move in the world of big electric motors?
I seem to have aquired a biggie - currently configured with a water pump
impeller on the end of it but I'd guess that it would be easy enough to
convert it to drive something.
The motor plate says it is a TECO Westinghouse rated at 37kw 1480 rpm ...

Sorry I missed that one - oh well, can't win them all ;o((
My opinion is that it was a snap at ¡ê100 unless there were actually big bits
missing - no photos, I assume?

CAV dynamo
Tue, 22 Apr 2008 10:15:03 +0100
I came by a massive CAV dynamo last evening. Over a foot long & about 8"
across, it is a two handed grunt to lift it & it came complete with its
regulator. It lacks a pulley, but the input shaft is an inch thick. The
massive double brushes are disposed at 90o to each other & there are only
two sets.
It is 1 ...

Probably a daft question, but you have thought about the ridge that forms at
the top of the ring travel, haven't you? If your fingernail can discern it,
then it should be removed or feathered to avoid breaking the nice new top
ring ;o))
