Petters PU8 Genny
Tue, 27 May 2008 18:26:12 +0100
Picked up a fairly reasonable-looking PU8 genny on ebay today, nobody else bid
for it so maybe possible buyers were at work or thought the price was high at
¡ê100?
Year of supply 1941, 4kW DC 110V, non-runner but seems to have the original
toolboxes and twin tanks, so is it Petrol-Paraffin?
More when we get it ...

Xantho Engine Restoration
Mon, 26 May 2008 22:59:43 +0800
Today I visited (again) the Shipwreck Galleries (Museum) at Fremantle,
Western Australia and spent some time examining the Xantho steam engine
under restoration. SS Xantho sank off WA in 1872. This 7.5 tonne trunk
engine built in England was truly a "stationary" engine until recently.
It was first recovered in ...

Magneto Help Please
Sun, 25 May 2008 19:09:06 GMT
I've been out in the garage trying to get my Petter PU8 to start. There
appears to be no spark on the plugs. I've cleaned the points on the magneto
and although I haven't got a set of feelers gauges the gap looks to be about
the same as on a Morris Minor. (Someone at a fair yesterday advised me to
set them to ...

Junkers 2HK65 at a rally in Bonefeld, Germany.
Sun, 25 May 2008 10:26:26 +0100
Anton Van Der Cruijsen (one of the organisers of the Nuenen Rally)
went across the border into Germany for a rally yesterday, near Koblenz, and he
took some pictures of a superb Junkers 2HK65 (same as our engine) which he
emailed this morning.
Pictures are at:

Wed, 21 May 2008 17:38:06 +0100
I don't know about you lot but this year is the first time that I have
considered what rally's I attend and what I take because the cost of getting
there and running the engine has just gone off the clock. My Van is fitted
with a MPG option and I am now driving to that and behaving like a pensioner
out on a dr ...
