Gentlemen,
My brother has gone up north too the Nationals trialling weekend with his
Landrover, during this morning I got a call " how does this awning go
together on the back of my van cos nothing fits" (me) " you put the frame up
and the awning hangs on the back of the van". Any way another call later I

Just back from the 1000 engine rally, fair to poor weather, engines not all that
special this year, nothing that really jumped out at you. That's not quite as
bad as it sounds, what was there was fine, but too many 'small' engines and not
enough of the larger ones that this show was famous for. Must have been a rec ...

the lube system on the series II is quite different from the series I.
There is a manual on ebay which (if i win the bidding) I will .pdf and
send you a copy (unless you alread have one)
cheers

40 swg Copper Wire.
Wed, 18 Jun 2008 14:35:34 -0700 (PDT)
Anyone know where I can buy a small spool of 40 swg copper wire for
rewinding a magnet?
4oz. will be more than enough.
I've looked at Maplins, but they don't go down that far.
I found some at http://www.wires.co.uk/acatalog/ax_ec_wire.html
but a 500g spool at ¡ê24 before postage is a last resort.
Thanks in adva ...

I'm a bit confused, partly as I am working from a series I manual.
there is an oil line which attaches to the rocker box with a banjo
fitting and feeds the 2 rockers, that seems OK. Also there is an aprox
3/16 tube inside the rocker box (push rod side of the inlet rocker)
pointing at the rocker cover, this is wher ...

It works! very chuffed indeed.
Thanks again for you help Peter, I see you've entered the world of AV1
ownership. Out of interest what is the output of that alt?
Mine seems to run a bit slower than I expected, but the governor is
certainly working as it should. Im probably not judging the revs very
well, any nea ...

AV1 Series II Genny
Wed, 18 Jun 2008 09:10:00 +0100
Picked up a decent-looking little genny yesterday, it's a Petters AV1 Series II
with a thumping great separately-excited alternator on it, driven by three V
belts.

At this rate we'll need a new factory to house it all! :-))

Both the engines that we have are missing their side cowlings for the cylinder
heads. These divert the cooling air round the corner over the inlet manifold
pipes.
Don't quite see why they should be left off, unless there was a cooling problem
with them fitted, but hot air blowing over those pipes would certainly ...

Not wrong there :-) for a while at least
I have had the plunger out and there are no markings dots etc on it.
The only dot I could find is on the outer casing on the bottom of the
pump.
Also the plunger has a pin with a squared end that engages with just
one of the sl ...
