I remember us getting the smaller 5p coin in 1990, but there are some
things I can't remember. What did shop assistants do with the two coin
sizes? Were they stored in the same slot in the till? Presumably they
were not bagged together, so whose job was it to sort the old coins
from the new? The banks' or the shop ...

Royal Mint/Royal Mail liaison on special issues?

Does anybody collect UK stamps AND UK coins? I'm wondering if there is
ever any clash between the subjects of their special issues. For
instance, Christian Feldhaus told us over on the other group that the
UK is to issue a special 50p for Kew Gardens in 2009. Is it just
possible that the Royal Mail might have the ...
