Cormorant at London Bridge
14 May 2009 21:47:49 GMT
I was crossing London Bridge this morning as I do just about every work
day and lo and behold I saw a cormorant between London and Tower Bridge.
It took off from the water and flew directly beneath me under the bridge.
It certainly brightened my river crossing today. ...

Wed, 13 May 2009 13:02:37 +0100

'twee'.This is occasionaly varied with a faster 'twee ti' or 'twee ti ti'.
I went on the RSPB site but none of the samples seemed top match it.

Nesting Long-tailed Tit
Fri, 24 Apr 2009 23:07:25 +0100
A LTT passed through my garden this afternoon, spending some minutes in my
small apple tree. Not unusual, but I noticed that its tail was curved round,
a sign that it has been spending some time in one of their cramped nests. A
bit galling, given that I used to see LTT nests in the woods but haven't
found one ...

Swallows arrival
Fri, 24 Apr 2009 09:57:07 -0700 (PDT)
Saw first swallows of the year the other day - hundreds of 'em in one
area, more than I've ever seen before. Only a few left now. It's as
though they all travelled over together and then split up for the
summer. Is that the way it works?
