Have just returned from Hols in Tuscany.
Nearly ran over a bird pecking in a country lane in an agricultural
/vinyard area, the ID of which baffled me.
I filed it away as , slightly smaller /slimmer than , but back, wings and
most of tail similar colouring to a blue rock thrush, ( slate blue/grey)

Planting out tomatoes

My young tomato plants are reluctant to develop their first flowers. They
are about 10inches tall, not spindly,just not actually flowering. The first
flower buds are just developing. I am wanting to get them started in their

Mandarin

I have just seen my first Mandarin duck today, at Colwick park in
Nottingham. It was a very beautiful bird to look at, however it spent all
the time trying it on with a female mallard, is this behaviour normal?
Also saw 2 albino greylags + one 85% albino but head markings and the centre
of it's back as normal g ...
