Looking out of the window ATM I can see dozens of them :-) See them every
day - more than I can remember in past years :-)
Thought we had less than ever. Not so here (N.E. Lincolnshire).
Swallows seem to be getting less and less though :-(

Tue, 14 Jul 2009 13:57:31 +0100
For the past couple of weeks many of our suburban birds are singing
loudly, including song thrushes, wrens, dunnocks, greenfinches,
starlings, tits (blue and great) and even a few pigeons and collared
doves doing display flights. Does this presage a new breeding season?
But this morning I was surprised to s ...

Quiet on the NG tonight
Tue, 14 Jul 2009 09:11:32 +0100
Haven't been too many posts lately so I thought I'd put one in.
A friend of mine asked me if I could identify a bird she'd seen running
about on the car park. Instantly I replied 'Pied Wagtail'.
How many birds are so easy to identify on the basis of so little infomation

This should lighten your day a bit.
I had a cracker of a shit last night. I woke up feeling as if a
thing with the same dimensions as an artic truck was pressing
down very hard on my rectal sphincters. It felt as though my
arse was about to explode. I managed to get my butt over the
lavy pan just in time. I tho ...

on black sunflower seed. They're not in the least bit interested in
sunflower hearts.
Anyone know how many how many clutches, Greenfinches have each year?
As for the House Sparrows, 50+ feeding al ...

Fancy a shag?
Thu, 02 Jul 2009 15:08:14 GMT
When I was a young man growing up neart the mouth of the Tyne there were
always shags on the rocks. 50 years on I have never seen one since
returning here in 2000. Is this common around the coast? There are plenty
of cormorants.
