The Lentek devices I bought are pretty watertight, and sit out in the
rain and snow without obvious problems. However, in a high wind and
with no fixation, a couple of them fell over and rain water got in.
Seems there are ways water can penetrate them!

bird casualties

any reports of bird casualties in this extreme weather?.im 900ft up a
hill in wales.snow frozen.-6 degrees and 60mph winds making it -15 in
the wind.i certainly had less birds feeding today.

In our garden there is a mature cedar tree, maybe a couple of hundred

What eats mistletoe berries

Just down the road from me is a tree that only a few years ago, at the time
of a Wildlife Trust survey of mistletoe, had just two noticeable bunches.
Now it is over-run; see http://www.panoramio.com/photo/16942290. Several
other trees around are also growing bunches.
I don't remember misteltoe being so burgeo ...

BBC Cuckoo programme
