2 spotted on lake at Grovelands park, North London.
Very distinctive pink legs and beak and shadow around eye - could they be
more common here than RSPB thinks?

Speaking Of Buzzards

On Wednesday I was working with other volunteers chopping out
rhododendrons in the country park, and we soon had a large bonfire
going.
After an hour or so one of the wardens drew our attention to the buzzard
which appeared to be circling in the thermal directly above the fire.

kowa versa swarovski

Am trying to decide between the above two for a spotting scope. Both have a
20 - 40 zoom lens. The kowa is the 72 and the swarovski the 65hd - both are
the old style ones. Does anyone have any experience of these? I preferred
the image through the kowa (probably as the obj was that bit bigger) but far

Swans.

This morning I stopped and marvelled at a sight which I see every year at
this time but am mesmerised all the same. On the way to the paper shop I saw
a flock of at least 150 swans in a field. They come every year. Last year I
had time to do a rough count and arrived at a figure of 178!! Didn't have my
bino's ...
