Spendor BCIs

A pal phoned up the other day with a tale of woe - they'd done a house
exchange with some Belgians and come home to find their speakers not well.
Seems the visitors had teenagers. ;-)
Went across with a test CD and sure enough both bass units are rubbing.
Turned the cabinets upside down - no difference. Dunno if ...

Woodside SC-26
Mon, 10 Aug 2009 10:28:08 +1000
I just serviced a Woodside SC-26 preamp. Quite a nice product. Well built
and a good performer. My client wishes to trade it in, but I have no idea of
it's after-market value. Any thoughts on what it is worth would be
appreciated. It is in perfect working order. The fault turned out to be a
leaky styroseal cap ...

State of Quad?
Sun, 9 Aug 2009 07:26:04 -0700 (PDT)
Does anyone have any first hand information on the state of things
with Quad these days?
I?ve been a devotee of Quad ESL for many years, initially with the one
now known as the ESL57, and for the last 20 years with the ESL63. I?ve
found them enormously satisfying over the years, and never felt the
need to use a ...

New webpage on loudspeaker cables
Fri, 07 Aug 2009 09:10:40 +0100
Hi,
I've just put up a new webpage that provides some measurements on the
properties of a variety of loudspeaker cables. The page is at
http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/HFN/Cables3/TakeTheLead.html
It is an expanded version of the article published in 'Hi Fi News' a few
months ago.
Slainte,
Jim
