cake
Thu, 8 Oct 2009 21:38:17 +0000 (UTC)
Last week I got around to having spent 26 years in Guiding. It would
have been longer had Rainbows existed back then! Having been really busy
then, I didn't get around to cake, but I have time now. There's a
chocolate cake pirate ship, but watch out for the malteser cannon balls!
There's a vanilla sponge st ...

Importing goods from US for Scouts
Thu, 8 Oct 2009 13:26:29 -0700 (PDT)
Hi, I have bought some campfire blankets from a company in Boston to
give to scouts at a camp I am running in 2 weeks time. I am bringing
them thru customs. I know I don't have to pay VAT (kids clothes) but
does anybody know if I can avoid the 12% duty? I think charities are
exempt but I am not sure and HMRC are l ...

Feel Like Closing Explorers
Thu, 8 Oct 2009 08:06:22 +0100
I've battled to keep Explorers open for the past few years.
I have a steady number of members but getting them motivated to actually do
anything is becoming increasingly more difficult.
They want to have camps. Yet the only camps they have had this year have
been Group or District camps that have been Leader ...

Was: Has UKRS had its day?
Thu, 8 Oct 2009 07:54:38 +0100
Escouts appears to be having problems just now. Not sure what it is but I've
not been able to access for the past 24 hours. I've tried different browsers
to no avail.
It looks to me like they may be victims of their own success. Now, I can't
recall the last time UKRS was affected by lack of bandwidth etc..

Bear Grylls and Chris Evans.
Tue, 06 Oct 2009 00:04:22 GMT
Did anyone else hear this last week?
(1) BG said a scout group he was working with were trying to get a Rocket
to 10,000 feet. I would love to know how they got permission for that one.
(2) Chris Evans is an ambassador for scouting... WTF????!!!!!! Are we
really that desperate?

Uptake by YP for the Jamboree
Mon, 5 Oct 2009 05:08:07 -0700 (PDT)
I have just been reading the various interesting posts in the thread
called "Has UKRS had its day", regarding poor uptake by YP for the
Jambo. So I thought I would start a new thread on this topic, with
the question: how is interest/uptake going in your district/county/
area?
In Southampton City district, we n ...
