Camp pumps
Wed, 8 Jul 2009 20:47:24 +0100
We are off to camp at the end of the month and I am planning on building
showers using river water and water barrels lifted high.
The problem is filling the barrels (last time we tried it people got fed up
lugging the water) so I did some digging on the web and found mention of
spiral pumps - a form of pump tha ...

Gift Aid
Tue, 07 Jul 2009 23:36:19 +0100
Can I claim gift aid on fees paid for camp and other activities, as well
as for subs and other donations?
I suspect not as it is money for a specific service but what if I asked
for donations instead?

Challenge Query
Mon, 6 Jul 2009 23:52:53 -0700 (PDT)
One of the challenges I have read several times about is where the
Scouts have to get their patrol over an 'electrified' fence using only
materials to hand - barrel/ spars/rope etc and then in some cases get
the equipment over after them. I would be interested in reading the
explanaition of how this is done. in th ...

Frying Pan - NOT happy :-(
Sun, 05 Jul 2009 13:33:57 GMT
I have just found one of my unit's frying pans in the HQ kitchen and its
almost completely buggered :-(
It is a heavy duty one, bought from a catering supplier and cost over ¡ê30,
and of course nobody knows ANYTHING about it.
Its a solid metal handle with a pair of what looks like thick plastic cheeks

Camping Book
Wed, 01 Jul 2009 20:58:27 GMT
I bought the Dorling Kindersley camping book that was shown in the last
"Scouting"
It has no relevance to me or my unit so I am selling it on e-bay. :-(
I still reckon that "Nights Away" is as good as any Scout Camping book and
at he current low price of ¡ê5 its a bargain.
Having said that every time Gilwe ...

Sun, 28 Jun 2009 11:02:21 -0700 (PDT)
My PLs have invited older cubs to this weeks troop night, with the

reliably well organised!)
I can think of a few simple gadgets we can do with available gear -
canes to make dry pit, ...

Scout Shops/Outdoors Website
Sun, 28 Jun 2009 11:29:00 +0100
Did anyone else notice that the Scoutshops/Outdoors websites were hacked
last week?
They are now coming up as unavailable due to technical reasons if you
try to go through the main Scouts.org.uk website. Outdoors.co.uk does
bring up the home page but then throws apache errors.
