Another testimonial to Paramo service     Mon, 11 Aug 2008 17:21:56 +0100
Hello, As the title says, I posted an article about 5 years ago about Paramo's lifetime warranty and now I'm doing it again, This time it was my wife's Scala jacket bought in '94 as far as I recall. The elasticised wrist fastenings had lost some of their elastic effect and a couple of the front press studs wer ...

On Line Twins     Sun, 10 Aug 2008 18:46:51 +0100
Browsing around looking for a good price I have come across these two online stores. http://www.hike-lite.co.uk/information.php?info_id=22 http://www.kooks.co.uk/information.php?info_id=22 The ONLY diference between them is the name, domain and colours and fonts used on their websites. They even have the same ...

Hills database survey     Fri, 8 Aug 2008 15:19:30 -0700 (PDT)
Some members of this group will have used a hills database maintained by Graham Jackson and myself at <www.biber.fsnet.co.uk/downloads.html> We're conducting a survey to gauge what future extensions, if any, are worth pursuing. If you use the database, whether regularly or not, it would be very helpful if you c ...

View from Herefordshire Beacon in the Malverns     Fri, 8 Aug 2008 13:35:19 -0700 (PDT)
Although I've walked across the Malverns as far as Worcestershire Beacon, I've not yet been to Herefordshire Beacon. I was wondering if the view is any different from there as I know that the Beacon is four miles south of Worcestershire Beacon, and being further south the views would be at quite a different angle ...

Walking in Cornwall     Fri, 08 Aug 2008 09:59:48 +0100
I've been going to Cornwall for holidays for quite a few years and so have walked there quite a bit. But I'm still keen to explore new walks. Does anyone have any favourites? I'm staying near Marazion but don't mind gong anywhere in the county. -- Regards, Geoff Berrow http://slipperyhill.co.uk ...

GPS Altimeter Strangeness     Fri, 8 Aug 2008 07:40:16 +0100
Yesterday I calibrated my GPS altimeter (60CS) at home, cleared the data at the start of my walk, noted that the altitude was 25m, then ascended to 190m (according to the GPS). My ascent therefore must have been at least 165m. A few additional ups and downs must have added at least 15m IMO, so my total ascent ...

Which GPS to show exact location?     Thu, 7 Aug 2008 20:12:00 +0100
To expand..I use a Garmin with Mapsource and have Memorymap. What I really really want is OS or similar maps loaded onto the Garmin so that my exact location at any time when out and about can be shown. I realise this is not possible. Anyone know of any addition kit that would provide this for reasonable outla ...
