Coast to coast
Sun, 6 Sep 2009 18:43:35 -0700 (PDT)
We are planning to do Wainwrights coast to coast in 2010 and would
like to hear from those who have undertaken this walk on a supported
basis, ie baggage handling and accomodation organised after each
section. In particular which companies are doing this and who are to
be recommended.

Wholly unholy
Sun, 6 Sep 2009 22:42:09 +0100
Eilean Molaise, the so-called Holy Island, in Lamlash Bay has a
delightful little hill called Mullach Mor, with great views of the north
Arran hills. Unfortunately, the landlords have spoilt it with dozens of
GOML signs - possibly the worst example of GOML activity I have come
across. Definitely bad karma.

Just in case you're still working with an older OS map and are
being tempted into designing a route that incorporates the ferry
across Loch Broom, be advised that it no longer exists. It hasn't
actually existed for about 5 years now but the signs have only just
been put up this year.

Mount Ararat
Fri, 04 Sep 2009 21:44:42 +0100
I've recently come back from a holiday in Turkey visiting Cappadocia, the
Taurus Mountains and Mount Ararat. The Taurus Mountains are spectacularly
jagged - they are only about 60 million years old. We climbed Mount
Embler, which at 3723 m is the second-highest peak in the region after
Mount Demirkazik. We travell ...

Re: Lakeland Route Question
Mon, 31 Aug 2009 15:07:37 +0100
Off to the Lake District on Saturday for a couple of weeks, and in the
process of planning our routes to increase my collection of Wainwrights.
The questions concerns routes taking in Crag Fell, Grike and Lank Rigg.
1. Is there a 'recognisable' route up to Crag Fell, maybe along Ben Gill,
from the car park ...
