Width restrictions & caravans--- oops

Hi just got a fine today for going through the width.restrictions(the
bit for buses)so much easier than the bit for cars and supposedly
everything else!!! Im going to appeal!!! anyone else experienced this
?
I have seen many lorries and large vans go through the bus bit and
wonder if anyone towing a van also uses ...

just got the static electric bill in.....

I have just received the first electric bill for my static caravan.
I knew it would be low due to the lack of use.
It showed that I used 24 units which came to ¡ê8.80.
Does this sound reasonable?

Caravan & Camping Club insurance with Equity Red Star crap or is it just me?

When we got our camper at the beginning of the we got Insurance with
our existing car insurer Norwich Union, who had been excellent for
four years with one accident and various price increases to deal with.
Never had better, they bent over backwards to help and were very good.

Avondale take-over

Hi all,
I have heard today that there may be a German company taking over Avondale
caravans.
Has anyone else heard about this, being an Avondale owner, it would be
welcome, as It's value price has probably dropped like a HBOS share, as
there will be no spares for any repairs if needed.

Battery Charging

Hi I have had a few problems with my leisure battery in my caravan thanks to
relying on the factory fitted on board charger. I am looking at fitting a
CTEK or similar charger to be connected as a near permanent fixture in the

Twin axle at last

I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. I just bought a secondhand award
nightstar twin axle van. Chuffed I am. Now a couple of questions.

Craver gas fire woes

I tried to use my carver 1800sc gas heater over the weekend (97 Bailey) and
although the ignition worked quite quickly I found I could not turn the
flame up to normal working and then when I turned it to off ..it stayed
exactly the same.The only way to stop it was to turn the gas bottle off. I
tried to religh ...

How can I prevent dampness?

Next month I'm due to drain down my static caravan as the site closes for
winter.
Is there anything that can be done to prevent dampness over the winter
months?
Someone mentioned that leaving salt in an open jar would absorb any
moisture.
Can anyone tell me if this works or does anyone have any suggestions? ...
