Tow bar electrics problems

I found on our last trip that my 12N socket has gone a bit dodgy -
insofar as the central pin has become loose and pushes back when you
plug in so I intermittently lose my L side light. Naturally, on
attempting to replace this, the bolts have corroded and I have had to

Its a pretty cursory inspection. Personally I don't think it goes far
enough - they don't take the cover off the ball to measure the ball size for
instance.
I doubt very many vehicles will fail this section of the MOT, but when you
hear stories of rogue fitters missing some of the bolts off their towbars,
