Paying the same amount into pension scheme but get different returns
Thu, 29 Oct 2009 20:20:09 +0000
This is quite long and am not sure if it is a legal question or
financial one
I work in the railway industry. If you joined before privatisation
then your pension cannot be changed without an act of parliament. If
you are happy to pay the contributions then it must continue. This
was done as a part of the pa ...

Unfair terms for bathroom equipment?
Wed, 28 Oct 2009 09:05:13 +0000
I am looking through various brochures for fitting out a bathroom. The
major suppliers have guarantees of 25 years or more on what they supply,
but one particular company's products are only guaranteed for 12 months.
Surely this is unfair, in the context the of Sale of Goods Act, where,
as I understand it, go ...

Return of deposit
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 15:40:08 +0000
AIUI, if there is no dispute over the amount of deposit to be returned
at the end of a tenancy, it should be returned in 10 days. Does that
mean that the tenant can be expected to wait 10 days + 3 working days
for a BACS transfer to take effect before they get the deposit into
their account?

Advice regarding partners daughter
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 12:30:20 +0000

around her house. It's her house and I stay there
once or twice a week.
My partner has a 17 year old daughter, who spends
most of the time with her boyfriend. Generally
she comes home for about an hour in ...

Financial records
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 00:30:19 +0000
I am in dispute with a former employer over a wage and tax matter.
HMRC are investigating on my behalf. They tell me that the employer
claims to have no wage records at all for 2006 or earlier - despite
employing a professionally qualified accountant who has, since well
before that, run all payments for 200+ staff ...

Employment Tribunal Decision
Mon, 26 Oct 2009 15:25:06 +0000
If an Employment Tribunal agrees that the action taken by an employer
met the 'reasonable belief on a balance of probabilities' threshold is
the ex exployee allowed to appeal a year later if new information comes
to light.
I have recently found out that at the appeal the decision to dismiss
was upheld by 2%, ...

Has the law changed in the last few years concerning the legal rights of
shop secuirty guards?
Is anyone other than a Policeman allowed to arrest on suspicion?
Is anyone other than a Policeman or PCSO allowed to detain on suspicion?
Is a shop security guard allowed to drag someone back into a shop when that
