Getting authorised as an agent

I have had a few new clients come to me in the last week or so
requiring urgent help.
I've had to resort to sending 64-8s by post rather than using the
online authorisation facility. I'm not prepared to wait three weeks
while HMRC leave letters in a warehouse before posting them to
clients.
What an incompete ...

HMRC payment

I note that if I setup a direct debit, it says the earliest they will be
paid is the 6th February. Would that mean that I would get stung if I used
that facility (for self assessment payment)?
The alternative is to us the Alliance & Leicester online form of payment.
Anyone know?

Hi, a Ltd Co has been bringing forward losses for the past few years....
mostly from general overheads, biggest being directors salries (actual
business being done in Ltd Co very small, almost nil, with likewise
almost-nil direct expenses...)
