Beetle filler cap

Hi all
The filler cap on my friend's Beetle is totally jammed, we've tried
everything to free it but without success.
Has anybody experienced this before and managed to fix the problem?
If there's nothing we can do, the owner of the 'wagen in question is

All,
Was out at the weekend, and drove around 40miles on the motorways in my 1300
72.
When we stopped off after about 30mins and tried to restart the car, it
would not catch and we had to bump it.
It's normally alright, but is this a common fault, and is there any tips on

My 1300 72 bug seems to idle at quite high revs. Is there an easy fix to
adjust it slightly?

Type 2 Clutch problems

Hi
I've got a '68 Type 2. The clutch release bearing disintegrated and on
inspection it looks like the early release bearing (with the 'round'
ears) has been used to operate a later diaphragm type clutch.
The engine is a Mexican 1600 AS and has a 215mm flywheel.
I've read somewhere that you cannot pair an ear ...

Cleaning Vinyl Headliner/sunblinds.

Hi All,
Am just in the process of cleaning up my new 1300 73 beetle.
The white vinyl headliner/sunblinds are quite marked, but I think they'll
clean up alright.
Can anybody suggest a good cleaning agent to use to bring them back to life.

interior refit - 1300 bug

Hi again,
As i mentioned in my last post I have just bought a 1300 bug (1970) I am
wanting to reupholster the interior - carpets, seats, headliner and door
cards - can anyone recommend and reputable suppliers? I have found a
couple on ebay but prefer personal recommendationds.
