Opened up volume screw hole in carb... HELP!
Fri, 22 Aug 2008 16:29:26 -0700 (PDT)
Hey all,
Was rebuilding my Bocar 34 Pict/3 Carb and seem to have overtightened
the volume screw. I never felt it bottom out (so maybe it was done
prior to my rebuilding?) and it stripped some of the threads. Does
this necessitate a new carb or can in still be adjusted properly, just
without the advantage of k ...

Air cooled engines vs unleaded
Mon, 16 Jun 2008 13:10:29 +0100
I am buying an high milage air cooled 2 ltr camper (T25) 1982.
The body is in great shape, but the engine has done 135,000 and is sounding
clackety and tired.
Can anyone tell me where I can find a list of
vw engine types vs suitability for unleaded petrol, or if this is OK for
U/L?

1961 Engline lid (semi W differences)
Sun, 1 Jun 2008 05:12:18 -0700 (PDT)
Hi all, I have finally managed to get hold of a 1961 Beetle (UK). I
am just checking the authenticity of body panels and notice that the
'Semi W' engine lid appears to be like a 1966 (with only part of the
top 'W' showing above the light).
I think the lid should have more of the top part showing which the

engine number
Sat, 31 May 2008 18:44:55 +0100
I have a 1968 Beetle 1300 which has 5553 F - 465232 riveted onto the engine
where the engine number should be. Can anyone tell me what this means please
as it doesn't seem to match the codes used? On my previous Beetle the number
was stamped into the engine case. The car was for the British market.

Re: 1970 Beetle Ignition Switch
Mon, 28 Apr 2008 18:43:02 +1000
In all my VW,s (Type 3,s) the spring is in the switch itself. I believe
they are the same in the beetle etc.
On occasions I,ve had a switch fail( after only ~ 30 yrs, what crummy
products!) and tried to pull them to bits and clean contacts
whatever. I,ve never succesfully put one back together though!.
